About MoneySmart Naija
MoneySmart Naija is a practical guide to earning, keeping and growing money as a salary earner in Nigeria. We write for the people who get paid at the end of the month and still need to cover rent, transport, food, family support and their own plans with the same income: NYSC members, fresh graduates, junior and mid-level staff, and anyone trying to make a Nigerian salary stretch further.
What we cover
- Budgeting: step-by-step plans for real salary levels, emergency funds, saving options and yearly planning.
- Salary & Tax: how PAYE, pension and other deductions work under current Nigerian law, and how to negotiate better pay.
- Careers: CVs, interviews and job-search advice that fits how Nigerian employers actually hire.
How we write
Every guide is written to be useful first. When we state a law, rate or official figure, we link the source, usually the law itself, a government agency such as PenCom, NDIC or NYSC, or an established professional firm. When rules change, we update the article. Worked examples use round, illustrative numbers so you can follow the logic and plug in your own figures.
We are not a bank, a tax authority or a licensed financial adviser. Our content is general education, not personal advice. Please read our Disclaimer.
Who runs this site
MoneySmart Naija is owned and run by Charles Anosike, a Nigerian creator who also makes simple spreadsheet and printable tools for budgeting, CVs and planning. Some articles mention those tools where they genuinely help; you never need to buy anything to use the advice here.
